Basketball Recap: McPherson Comes Up Short

McPherson was the 62-36 winner over Circle when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The McPherson Bullpups received a blow on Monday as they fell 66-51 to the Circle Thunderbirds. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Bullpups came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 29th, while the Thunderbirds are ranked 175th).

McPherson's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 8-1 and their overall record down to 15-4. As for Circle, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-8 record this season.

McPherson won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Mulvane at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mulvane has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. Circle has already played their next game (against Augusta), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
