Football Game Preview: Byron Nelson Bobcat vs. Bell Blue Raiders

Byron Nelson has gone a perfect 3-0 against Bell recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Bobcat will host the Blue Raiders at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Byron Nelson has five straight wins, Bell has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Byron Nelson is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Northwest: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Bobcat blew the Texans out of the water with a 41-3 final score. Considering the Bobcat have won five games by more than 21 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Parker Almanza had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 117 yards and one touchdown on only nine carries, while also throwing for 208 yards and a pair of TDs. Those 117 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Bell's offense. They were outmatched by Southlake Carroll and fell 49-0. While losing is never fun, the Blue Raiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 158th, while the Dragons are ranked first).

Bell's defeat dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Byron Nelson, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2.

Everything came up roses for Byron Nelson against Bell in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, as the team secured a 31-3 win. Will the Bobcat repeat their success, or do the Blue Raiders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
