Softball Recap: Sheldon Takes a Loss

Sheldon fell victim to Elk Grove and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Thundering Herd. The Huskies were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Thundering Herd earlier this season, when they won 5-0.

Micah Kennedy spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Sheldon saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nicole Camacho-Vasquez, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

Sheldon has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 17-9-1 record this season. As for Elk Grove, they pushed their record up to 16-11 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road.

As of now, neither Sheldon nor the Thundering Herd have any future games scheduled.
