Softball Game Preview: Desert Heights Prep Yote vs. Antelope Rams

The Desert Heights Prep Yote will head out to take on the Antelope Rams at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Desert Heights Prep is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.

Desert Heights Prep came up short against Salome on Tuesday, falling 17-2.

Meanwhile, Antelope got the win against San Pasqual Valley on Tuesday by a conclusive 22-2. The Rams might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by six runs or more this season.

Isela Marquez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Karyme Arana, who scored four runs and stole six bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March of 2024. Alaina Jaime was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing four bases while going 2-for-3.

Antelope was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .562. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .345 or higher in four consecutive games.

Antelope's record now sits at 6-2. As for Desert Heights Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.

Desert Heights Prep came out on top in a nail-biter against Antelope in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, sneaking past 13-12. The rematch might be a little tougher for Desert Heights Prep since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
