We've seen writers describe high-scoring football games as track meets or basketball games.

But we've never seen a gymnastics competition break out during a football game. Not until we saw Ouachita Christian (Monroe, La.) senior safety Garryn Chowns stick a landing following a 41-yard interception return for a touchdown against Central Catholic on Nov. 21.

Chowns intercepted a Central Catholic pass, raced untouched down the left sideline before being converged upon near the goal line. Rather than take the hit by Stefano Guarisco, Chowns jumped over him, flipped into the air and stuck the landing in the end zone better than Bart Conner in the 1984 Olympics.

The TD keyed Ouachita Christian's 38-0 Division IV Louisiana quarterfinal victory. Chowns also is the team's quarterback and he threw for 153 yards and two scores and rushed nine times for 66 yards. He was voted by his coaching staff as the offensive player of the game.

His defensive play, however, is one of the top plays of the year. It was also his 10th interception of the season.

Ouachita Christian is in the state finals and will play Southern Lab (Baton Rouge, La.) on Friday.
