Recap: West Marion Trojans vs. Stone Tomcats
On Saturday, West Marion might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Stone an easy 62-39 win. While losing is never fun, West Marion can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 246th, while Stone is ranked 114th).
Stone's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from JaKobey Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 15 rebounds. Johnson has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last seven times he's played. Ray Dennis was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with three steals.
West Marion's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Stone, their win bumped their record up to 9-3.
West Marion's road trip will continue as they head out to face Purvis at 7:30 p.m. on December 19th. Stone and East Central will face off at 7:30 p.m. on December 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. East Central has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 20.
