Basketball Recap: Owen Brown's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Mt. Rainier over Kennedy Catholic

Mt. Rainier was the 50-45 winner over Kennedy Catholic when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Mt. Rainier Rams took a 59-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Kennedy Catholic Lancers on Thursday. That's two games in a row now that the Rams have lost by exactly 12 points.

Mt. Rainier lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Owen Brown, who went 5 for 10 on his way to 12 points. Tanner Simpson was another key player, going 5 of 9 on his way to 11 points and three steals.

Mt. Rainier has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-5 record this season. As for Kennedy Catholic, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-5.

Mt. Rainier will host Kentridge at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mt. Rainier is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.4 points per game this season. As for Kennedy Catholic, they will venture away from home to face off against Stadium at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
