Tranquillity hasn't had much luck against Dos Palos recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Tigers will head out to challenge the Broncos at 4:00 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Tranquillity took a 38-run defeat the last time they faced off against Firebaugh, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Tigers came out on top in a nail-biter against the Eagles on Tuesday, sneaking past 5-3.
Bryan Buso made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Buso was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that he hit this season.
Buso wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Oscar Contreras, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one run. That triple was Contreras' first of the season.
Meanwhile, Dos Palos posted their closest victory since March 1st on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Mendota 8-6. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Broncos.
Like Tranquillity, Dos Palos also got a great game from a two-way player: Gilbert Ramirez. He tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Ramirez has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. He has become a key player for Dos Palos: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-7 otherwise.
In other batting news, Dos Palos let Tevin Clay and Chaz Merrell run wild. Clay scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Merrell scored two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
Tranquillity's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-9. As for Dos Palos, the win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 6-7.
Tranquillity suffered a grim 16-1 defeat to Dos Palos in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
