Baseball Game Preview: Wayne Valley Indians vs. Pequannock Golden Panthers

The Wayne Valley Indians will venture away from home to square off against the Pequannock Golden Panthers at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Wayne Valley came out on top against Northern Highlands on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run seventh inning. The Indians had just enough and edged out the Highlanders 9-8. The win continues a trend for the Indians in their matchups with the Highlanders: they've now won three in a row.

Nick Cavagnaro was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two doubles. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Roman Rowbotham, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Wayne Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .303 or higher in four consecutive matchups.

Jefferson Township typically has all the answers at home, but on Saturday Pequannock proved too difficult a challenge. They came out on top against the Falcons by a score of 4-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Golden Panthers.

Wayne Valley now has a winning record of 11-10. As for Pequannock, their record now sits at 14-7.

Wayne Valley might still be hurting after the 9-3 loss they got from Pequannock in their previous meeting back in May of 2017. Can the Indians avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
