What a year for girls high school basketball in Texas.

Of the five finalists named Wednesday for the 2016 McDonald's All American Games Morgan Wootten Player of the Year Award, three hail from the Lone Star State.

Leading the list is HoopGurlz/ESPNW No. 1 overall prospect Lauren Cox of Flower Mound. The 6-foot-4 Baylor signee is averaging 21.8 points, 12.7 rebounds and 3.4 blocked shots per game.

The other two Texans are fellow Baylor pledge Natalie Chou, a 6-1 guard at Plano West (Plano), and 6-3 forward Joyner Holmes of Cedar Hill.

Future UConn point guard Crystal Dangerfield of Blackman (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) and Princeton (Ind.) guard Jackie Young – who is averaging over 37 points per game this season – round out the selections.
