Blake dropped their record down to 7-7 on Monday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They lost  27-0 to the Southwest Christian Stars. The Bears were red-hot at the plate heading into the  game (they scored no less than ten  runs in the four  matches prior), but the Stars' pitchers proved too tough.
As for Southwest Christian, they pushed their record up to 11-5 with the  victory, which was their third straight  on the road. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most  runs they've scored all season.
For Southwest Christian's part,  Jack Manion looked comfortable as he  didn't allow a single  earned run over four innings pitched. Manion has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't  given up  more than one  walk in four consecutive appearances.
 On the hitting side,  the team  relied heavily on  Melvin Maldonado, who  fired off three  home runs, 13  RBI,  and four  runs while going 5-for-5. Those  five  hits gave  him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of  Cruz Winegarden, who  went 5-for-6 with three  RBI and two  runs.
 Looking ahead, Blake will head out on the road to  square off against  St. Agnes  at 4:30  p.m.  on Tuesday. As for Southwest Christian, they will face off against Delano at 7:00  p.m.  on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few  runs on average (the Stars 3.5, the Tigers 3.6) so any  runs scored will be well earned.
