Preview: Centerville Bulldogs vs. Oberlin Tigers
The Centerville Bulldogs will head out on the road to face off against the Oberlin Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Thursday, Centerville earned a 36-23 win over Covenant Christian Academy. 36 seems to be a good number for Centerville as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Jamari Ayrow was his usual excellent self, rushing for 162 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.5 yards per carry, and also picking up 33 receiving yards. Ayrow was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 53 yards. Another player making a difference was Bryson Thomas, who rushed for 74 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Oberlin came tearing into Friday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30 points) and they left with even more momentum. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Ville Platte 51-16 at home. Considering Oberlin has won seven contests by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Oberlin's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB 6.5 times. In that department, Kayden Dart was the leader with five sacks.
The victory makes it two in a row for Centerville and bumps their season record up to 6-4. As for Oberlin, they have yet to lose a match at home this season, leaving them with a 8-2 record.
Centerville came out on top in a nail-biter against Oberlin in their previous matchup back in December of 2020, sneaking past 42-40. Will Centerville repeat their success, or does Oberlin have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
