Recap: Marshall Academy Griffons vs. Pansophia Academy
The Marshall Academy Griffons were the 32-24 winner over Pansophia Academy when they last played one another last Friday, but their luck changed this time around. Marshall Academy took a 25-16 hit to the loss column at the hands of the on Wednesday. Marshall Academy just can't catch a break and has now endured three defeats in a row.
Several Griffons players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Malia Taylor, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds. That was a full 62.5% of Marshall Academy's points, marking the sixth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Amiah Poindexter, who scored six points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Marshall Academy dropped their record down to 2-6 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 18.8 points per game. As for Pansophia Academy, their win ended a 11-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-9.
Marshall Academy will take on the Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Battle Creek Academy's defense has only allowed 29.3 points per game this season, so the Griffons' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Pansophia Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against the Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Michigan (Will Carleton Academy is ranked 680th, while the are ranked 692nd).
