Baseball Recap: Monroe Bearcats vs. Arlington Eagles
Monroe dropped to 9-5 on Friday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They fell just short of the Arlington Eagles by a score of 8-7. The Bearcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2025.
AJ Welch put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Those three hits allowed gave him a new career-low. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Caleb Campbell led a balanced group of hitters, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Alex Harvie also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
As for Arlington, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-9. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted since March 14th.

Durfee is becoming a predictor of the Eagles' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 2-8 when he doesn't). Daniel Delcoure was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Monroe will head out to take on Everett at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Arlington, they will venture away from home to face off against Mountlake Terrace at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
