Softball Recap: Holton Gets the Win

Holton let Rossville stack five runs on them in the third inning on Wednesday but luckily Holton prevailed anyway. The Wildcats came out on top in a nail-biter against the Bulldogs, sneaking past 10-8. This was a revenge game for the Wildcats: when they faced off against the Bulldogs on Wednesday, they had to take a 5-4 loss.

Holton got a big performance out of Bre Barrow, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run. Those three RBI gave Barrow a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Stormi Goudie, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Holton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive matchups.

Holton's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-12. As for Rossville, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-5.

Coincidentally, Holton and Rossville will both be playing Hiawatha the next time they take the field. The Wildcats will host the Red Hawks at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, while the Bulldogs will host them at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
