Baseball Recap: Sulligent Blue Devils vs. Hamilton Lions

Sulligent was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They suffered a tough 9-2 loss at the hands of the Hamilton Lions. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Sulligent of the 9-5 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture last Thursday.

Sulligent saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kenyon Taylor, who went 1-for-2 with a stolen base.

Even though they lost, Sulligent didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and finished the game with five strikeouts. This was only their 12th loss (out of 18 games) when they post five or more strikeouts.

On Hamilton's side, Blake Gosa spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up 12 Ks.

Sulligent will head out on the road to face off against Lamar County on Monday. As for Hamilton, they will be playing at home against Smithville at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hamilton is facing Smithville at the right time seeing as Smithville is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
