Basketball Game Preview: Belton-Honea Path Bears vs. Pendleton Bulldogs

The Belton-Honea Path Bears just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Pendleton Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Belton-Honea Path comes in on six and Pendleton on four.

Belton-Honea Path is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing West-Oak: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Belton-Honea Path blew West-Oak out of the water with a 77-34 final score. That looming 77-34 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Bears yet this season.

Meanwhile, Pendleton earned a 54-44 win over Crescent on Friday.

Belton-Honea Path better focus on containing Samuel Ross and Garon Blalock as the pair were huge in Pendleton's win. Ross went 6 for 12 en route to 20 points and eight rebounds, while Blalock posted 11 points along with eight boards and five blocks. The dominant performance gave Ross a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Abijah Webb, who scored seven points and three steals.

Pendleton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.

Belton-Honea Path pushed their record up to 10-8 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 30 points. As for Pendleton, their win bumped their record up to 6-12.

Belton-Honea Path might still be hurting after the 66-40 defeat they got from Pendleton in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. Thankfully for Belton-Honea Path, Mcconnell Burdette (who went 10 of 16 on his way to 22 points and eight rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
