Basketball Recap: Carmel Christian Piles Up the Points Against Greater Cabarrus S

There's no place like home for Carmel Christian, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They blew past the Greater Cabarrus S Stallions 72-37 on Tuesday. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 31st, while the Stallions are ranked 233rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Carmel Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Bryce Slay, who went 8 for 13 en route to 20 points. Slay's evening made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. Miles Leaks was another key player, going 6 of 10 to rack up 16 points and three steals.

When it comes to explaining why Greater Cabarrus S lost, don't look at Ashton Arrowood. Despite the final result, he posted 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Patrick Oldham, who put up seven points.

Carmel Christian's victory bumped their record up to 16-7. As for Greater Cabarrus S, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-8.

Carmel Christian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, an 82-76 loss against Ambassador Christian School on the 6th. As for Greater Cabarrus S, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, an 82-37 win against Surry HomeSchool on the 6th.
