Baseball Recap: Homestead Takes a Loss

Homestead extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping their season record down to 9-10 in the process. They lost 12-1 to the Los Gatos Wildcats. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Mustangs, who until this match were averaging four runs allowed.

Drew Hamburger put in work while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in May of 2024. He was also big at the plate, earning one run and two stolen bases. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.

As for Los Gatos, they pushed their record up to 15-3 with the win, which was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games.

On Los Gatos' side, Ethan Williams looked comfortable as he pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, Williams posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Will Temple, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Beau Musser, who went 1-for-5 with one triple and one run.

Looking ahead, Homestead will head out to challenge Wilcox at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Los Gatos, they will host Burlingame at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
