Basketball Recap: Lakota East Extends Winning Streak to Four

Lakota East waltzed into their game on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They walked away with a 51-40 win over the Lakota West Firebirds. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Thunderhawks also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2024.

Lakota East got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Addyson Johnson out in front who made all 5 shots she took for 13 points and five boards. Those 13 points gave Johnson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brooke Asher, who posted 14 points and six rebounds.

Lakota East is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.7 points per game. As for Lakota West, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lakota East won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Hamilton at 1:45 p.m. on Saturday. As for Lakota West, they will also get right back to it: they'll square off against Oak Hills at 1:45 p.m. on Saturday.
