Basketball Recap: High Island Takes a Loss

High Island was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 61-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Leggett Pirates. The Cardinals lost against the Pirates in their previous head to head back in January, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 90-35 score last time.

When it comes to explaining why High Island lost, don't look at Cam'Ron Medina. Despite the final result, he posted 24 points. Medina's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Leif Larson, who earned six points.

High Island's loss dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Leggett, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-12.

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the High Island Cardinals face off against the Brookeland Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. High Island has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Leggett, they will host Chester at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
