The Breck Mustangs will square off against the Park Center/Columbia Heights/Maranatha Pirates at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Breck gave up the first runs on Saturday, but they didn't let that get them down. Everything went their way against Academy of Holy Angels as they made off with a 14-3 victory. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by six runs or more this season.

Breck got a massive performance out of Garret Trench, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Trench is becoming a predictor of the Mustangs' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 4-5 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Colin Mitchell, who went 1-for-2 with four RBI, one run, and one double.
Park Center/Columbia Heights/Maranatha let Richfield stack four runs on them in the third inning on Wednesday but luckily Park Center/Columbia Heights/Maranatha prevailed anyway. The Pirates walked away with an 8-5 win over the Spartans.
Nolan Schneider was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Beau Bratsch was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
Breck pushed their record up to 9-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Park Center/Columbia Heights/Maranatha, their victory bumped their record up to 9-7.
Park Center/Columbia Heights/Maranatha's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Breck has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .494. It's a different story for Park Center/Columbia Heights/Maranatha, though, as they've only averaged .359. Will they be able to contain Breck's hitters?
Breck was able to grind out a solid win over Park Center/Columbia Heights/Maranatha in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, winning 6-2. Will the Mustangs repeat their success, or do the Pirates have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
