Maranatha had to endure a nine-match losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against the Whittier Christian Heralds by a score of 3-1 on Thursday. This was a revenge game for the Minutemen: when they faced off against the Heralds back in September, they had to take a 3-2 loss.

Maranatha had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 23-25, 25-15, 25-23, 25-18.

Maranatha's win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-6 and their overall record up to 7-15. As for Whittier Christian, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 13 of their last 14 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-23 record this season.

Maranatha and Whittier Christian could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Minutemen will square off against Valley Christian at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank disadvantage (745 vs. 27). Meanwhile, Whittier Christian (ranked 782nd) will meet Village Christian (ranked 157th) at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
