Volleyball Game Preview: Mater Dei Catholic Crusaders vs. Mar Vista Mariners

The Mater Dei Catholic Crusaders will challenge the Mar Vista Mariners at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Mater Dei Catholic is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Sweetwater just ended the team's 14-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Red Devils by a score of 3-2.

Mater Dei Catholic actually scored more points across those five sets (102-97), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 16-25, 16-25, 25-23, 15-6.

Meanwhile, Mar Vista posted their closest win since March 22nd on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over Mount Miguel. The win was some much needed relief for the Mariners as it spelled an end to their seven-game losing streak.

Mater Dei Catholic's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 17-8. As for Mar Vista, their victory bumped their record up to 6-20.

Mater Dei Catholic took their win against Mar Vista in their previous matchup on April 4th by a conclusive 3-0 score. Do the Crusaders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mariners turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
