Baseball Game Preview: Hurricane Tigers vs. Centennial Patriots

The Hurricane Tigers will take on the Centennial Patriots at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Hurricane is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Hillcrest a 17-0 shutout on Friday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Brycen McCauley was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 14 over six innings pitched. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lani Matsuoka, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, seven RBI, and two runs. Parker Selby was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-5.

Hurricane always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Centennial sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 win over Hillcrest on Friday.

Hurricane has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. The victory got Centennial back to even at 1-1.
