Baseball Game Preview: Lincoln-Way West Warriors vs. Lockport Porters

The Lincoln-Way West Warriors will head out to take on the Lockport Porters at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Lincoln-Way West is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season.

Lincoln-Way West fell victim to Lemont and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lemont HS. Surprisingly, this marked the Warriors' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Lincoln-Way West got a good showing from Ben Joynt, who pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits.

At the plate, Lincoln-Way West saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Mansker, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

Barrington typically has all the answers at home, but on Saturday Lockport proved too difficult a challenge. They walked away with a 6-2 win over the Fillies/Broncos.

Lockport has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-9 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Lincoln-Way West, they moved to 20-6 with that loss, which also ended their six-game winning streak.

Lincoln-Way West beat Lockport 6-1 in their previous meeting on Friday. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
