Softball Recap: Torres Comes Up Short

If Torres was riding high fresh off their 13-5 takedown of Delano on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Toros lost 12-3 to the Chavez Titans on Tuesday.

Torres saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mylah Avila, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2. Avila has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last seven times she's played. Another was J'lynn Mitchell, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one double.

Torres' loss dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Chavez, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-11 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Torres will face off against Hoover at 3:30 p.m. on the 23rd. The Patriots will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Toros surely won't give up without a fight. As for Chavez, they will head out to challenge McFarland at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
