Columbus piles up the points against Goleman

Recap: Columbus Explorers vs. Goleman Gators

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only the Columbus Explorers walked away with it. They blew past Goleman, posting a 49-6 win at home. Considering Columbus has won five contests by more than 27 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Columbus had a senior duo take command as Alberto Mendoza threw for 135 yards and three touchdowns on only ten passes and Benjamin Blackburn picked up 71 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Mendoza was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 53 yards. Agyeman Addae was in the mix too, providing Columbus with two touchdowns.

Columbus pushed their record up to 9-2 with that win, which was their third straight at home. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 32.33 points. As for Goleman, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-6.

Columbus will be playing at home against South Dade at 6:00 p.m. on November 17th. South Dade will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 95th, while Columbus is ranked 20th). Goleman does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
