Softball Recap: Lewis Cass Comes Up Short at Home Against Mississinewa

Lewis Cass unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mississinewa Indians on Thursday. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it eight in a row.

Ruth (Amma) Fitzhugh spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six runs (all of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up nine Ks.

On the hitting side, Ava Hubner made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Lewis Cass didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, an 8-7 win against Carroll on the 11th. As for Mississinewa, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 3-1 victory against Lebanon on the 12th.
