Basketball Game Preview: Glenville Tarblooders vs. Bedford Bearcats

Two dominant forwards in Xavier Vickerstaff and Terrell Pollard are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Glenville Tarblooders just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Bedford Bearcats at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Glenville's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four contests.

Glenville is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They really took it to Garrett Morgan for the full four quarters, racking up a 98-54 win. Given the Tarblooders' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 120th, while the Falcons are ranked 396th), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Bedford entered their matchup against Garfield Heights on Thursday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Bedford took a 65-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of Garfield Heights.

Glenville will have to keep a close watch on Pollard and Kevin Woodgett III, a pair of players who had a big impact on Bedford's prior game. Pollard dropped a double-double on 28 points and 12 boards, while Woodgett III went 7 for 10 en route to 19 points and five assists. Pollard has been hot for a while, having posted ten or more rebounds the last ten times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jaivon Hudson, who posted three points and five assists.

Glenville is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.4 points per game. As for Bedford, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 9-4.

Glenville was able to grind out a solid victory over Bedford when the teams last played back in December of 2016, winning 66-55. Does Glenville have another victory up their sleeve, or will Bedford turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
