Softball Recap: Cox's Loss Ends Four-Game Winning Streak at Home

Cox dropped their record down to 9-4 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins at home. They took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the First Colonial Patriots. The Falcons were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Patriots earlier this season, when they won 6-1.

Cox saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emmy Bowen, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.

As for First Colonial, they pushed their record up to 11-5 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games.

On First Colonial's side, Cori Evans spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits.

At the plate, Lucy Domozick was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Maura Haesler, who went 1-for-4 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Cox wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, an 11-2 loss against Kempsville on the 7th. As for First Colonial, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Tallwood at 5:00 p.m. The Patriots are facing the Lions at the right time seeing as the Lions are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
