Basketball Recap: Kee'donn Linney's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Kings Mountain over Lincolnton

Kings Mountain was the 64-55 winner over Lincolnton when they last played one another back in December of 2018, but their luck changed this time around. The Kings Mountain Mountaineers took a 69-65 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lincolnton Wolves.

Kings Mountain's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kee'Donn Linney, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 13 boards. The team also got some help courtesy of J'Myun Huskey, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine boards.

Even though they lost, Kings Mountain smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lincolnton only pulled down 12 offensive boards.

Lincolnton found their leader in sophomore LJ Smith IV, who dropped a double-double on 34 points and 12 boards. The match was Smith IV's third in a row with at least ten points. Tyler McClain was another key player, putting up ten points and seven rebounds.

Kings Mountain's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Lincolnton, their victory ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-1.

Kings Mountain wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 64-63 win against Burns on the 9th. As for Lincolnton, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 69-67 victory against East Lincoln on the 7th.
