Basketball Recap: Ellie Johnson Key Part of a Team Effort in Wolves Win

Black Hills won the last time they faced Centralia and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Black Hills Wolves enjoyed a cozy 63-48 victory over the Centralia Tigers. Given the Wolves' advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 117th, while the Tigers are ranked 275th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Black Hills to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ellie Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds. Johnson is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last eight games she's played. Tyler Venable was another key player, going 8 of 16 en route to 20 points.

Black Hills was working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Black Hills is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a massive bump to their 12-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.1 points per game. As for Centralia, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-14.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Black Hills will square off against Aberdeen at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Black Hills is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.1 points per game this season. As for Centralia, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the Centralia Tigers take on the WF West Bearcats at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. WF West will roll in looking for their 12th straight win, something Centralia surely won't give up without a fight.
