Basketball Recap: Southmoore Comes Up Short

Southmoore and Norman squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Southmoore had to settle for second. They had to suffer through an 81-33 loss at the hands of the Norman Tigers. While losing is never fun, the SaberCats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 337th, while the Tigers are ranked second).

Leading Norman to victory were Keeley Parks and Halyn Browning. Parks almost dropped a double-double with 17 points and nine rebounds, while Browning went 9-for-12 on her way to 22 points and three steals. Parks' big performance that evening made it 13 games in a row in which she has scored at least 17 points. Blythe Crawley was another key player, shooting 63% from the field en route to 11 points.

Southmoore's defeat was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-19. As for Norman, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 22-2.

Southmoore does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Norman, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 61-53 win against Norman North on the 1st.
