Washington Academy has gone a perfect 10-0 against Sumner recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Raiders are taking a road trip to challenge the Tigers at 4:30 p.m. Washington Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.9 runs per game this season.

Washington Academy came out on top against Mount View on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run fifth inning. The Raiders were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over the Mustangs. The win continues a trend for the Raiders in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now won eight in a row.

James Welch made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Ben Hennessey was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one RBI. Trevor Shimabukuro also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Washington Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Sumner hadn't done well against Searsport recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Tigers put the hurt on the Vikings with a sharp 10-3 victory. The win was some much needed relief for the Tigers as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

Washington Academy's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-1. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Sumner, the victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 2-5.

Washington Academy took their win against Sumner in their previous meeting last Wednesday by a conclusive 21-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Raiders since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
