Basketball Recap: Davidson Day Patriots vs. Carmel Christian Cougars
Davidson Day was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 58-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Carmel Christian Cougars. The Patriots were probably out for revenge after losing 65-55 to them when the teams met back in January, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Carmel Christian got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Bryce Slay out in front who posted 14 points in addition to seven rebounds and five assists. Another player making a difference was Daniel Guandolo, who went 6 for 10 on his way to 16 points.
Davidson Day's defeat dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Carmel Christian, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 9-3.
Davidson Day will take on Providence Day at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Davidson Day has won 11 straight at home dating back to last season, while Providence Day won three straight on the road), something that'll have to change. As for Carmel Christian, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Carmel Christian Cougars duke it out with the Covenant Day Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Carmel Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight matchups -- so hopefully Covenant Day likes a good challenge.
