Basketball Game Preview: Ashland Blue Devils vs. Potts Camp Cardinals

Ashland is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will host the Potts Camp Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. Potts Camp took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Ashland, who comes in off a win.

Ashland took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They blew past Byhalia 48-20. The Blue Devils have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 28 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Potts Camp was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost to Mantachie at home by a 56-42 margin.

Ashland will have to contain Jeremiah Nelson as he made an impact in Potts Camp's last game. He went 9-for-13 to rack up 21 points in addition to seven rebounds and three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Malachi Brownlee, who posted 12 points and five boards.

Ashland's win bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Potts Camp, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.

Everything went Ashland's way against Potts Camp in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, as Ashland made off with a 57-33 victory. Do the Blue Devils have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cardinals turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
