Traverse City Central was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after besting University of Detroit Jesuit. The Trojans came in at 25 in the state poll after placing at number 33 last week.
Traverse City Central extended the longest winning streak in Big North this week by beating the Cubs, 9-7. The win marks sixth in a row for the Tom Passinault's team.
Ogemaw Heights's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Devin Griffus threw for 86 and one touchdown and Jerome Hunter had 58 yards receiving. On the ground Brandon Benac chipped in 139 yards. Josh Awrey helped Ogemaw Heights' passing attack out by catching two balls for 20 yards.
Ogemaw Heights' offense has been unstoppable this season and the Falcons feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Ben Hartley has thrown for 474 yards and three touchdowns this season, while Hunter has 12 catches for 256 yards. Benac leads the league in rushing with 884 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Traverse City West takes on the Falcons. The Titans are in second place, while Ogemaw Heights is in fifth place.
Andrew Pratley's team took down Gaylord 56-6 last week, the largest margin of any game. Griffus ran for 67 yards in the win.
