Meanwhile, Service suffered their biggest loss since June 7, 2025 on Thursday. They came up short against Soldotna, falling 18-10. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Cougars, who until this matchup were averaging 3.15 runs allowed.
Service got a big performance out of Rilen Niclai, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI. Another player making a difference was Casey Stoops, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
Having lost for the first time this season, Service fell to 12-1. As for Chugiak, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-2.
Saturday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Chugiak has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .499. However, it's not like Service struggles in that department as they've averaged .494. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
