Baseball Game Preview: McClintock Chargers vs. North Mustangs

The McClintock Chargers will venture away from home to take on the North Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (McClintock has four straight wins, North has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

McClintock's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. Everything went their way against Kellis as they made off with a 10-0 victory. The Chargers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by six runs or more this season.

Elias Baldwin made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lucas Wisehart, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Cole Rentschler, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

McClintock always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .583. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .526 or higher in five consecutive games.

Alhambra hit North with a 12-run fourth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Mustangs came up short against the Lions, falling 17-0.

McClintock's record is now 16-8. As for North, their loss dropped their record down to 3-15.

North's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: McClintock has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .440. It's a different story for North, though, as they've only averaged .321.
