Softball Recap: Falkner Comes Up Short at Home Against Alcorn Central

Falkner unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell 20-15 to the Alcorn Central Bears on Friday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Eagles of the 12-10 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2024.

Ella Mauney and Mia McDaniel stepped up to the plate in a big way. Mauney scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances, while McDaniel scored three runs while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances. Emma Mauney was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.

Alcorn Central's victory ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-2.

Coming up, Falkner will face off against Hickory Flat at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Alcorn Central, they will host New Site at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
