The St. George's Gryphons suffered their biggest defeat since November 21, 2023 on Friday. Their rough 78-55 defeat to Harding Academy might stick with them for a while. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
St. George's loss came despite strong showings from Jackson Jones and Tristan Farris. Jones scored 17 points, while Farris scored ten points along with five rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Zeke Cowell, who scored six points along with three steals.
St. George's has been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season. As for Harding Academy, they pushed their record up to 10-4 with that win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season.
St. George's will take on First Assembly Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. First Assembly Christian presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than St. George's in Tennessee (First Assembly Christian is ranked fifth, while St. George's is ranked 182nd). As for Harding Academy, they will head out on the road to square off against Evangelical Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Evangelical Christian has insisted on making their lastthree contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 2-1 during that stretch of close contests.
