Recap: Westwood Panthers vs. Somerset College Prep Academy Spartans
The Westwood Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 56-37 to Somerset College Prep Academy. Westwood lost against Somerset College Prep Academy in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 1-0 score last time.
Several Panthers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jihla Greer, who scored 13 points. Greer scored a full 35.1% of Westwood's points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaydah Reynolds, who scored 9 points.
Somerset College Prep Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kayla Curry out in front who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kaeley Ciceron, who scored 18 points along with 7 rebounds and 3 steals.
Westwood's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Somerset College Prep Academy, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Westwood will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Jensen Beach at 6:30 p.m. on December 5th. As for Somerset College Prep Academy, they will challenge Port St. Lucie at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
