Softball Preview: Havelock Rams vs. East Carteret Mariners

The Havelock Rams will head out on the road to take on the East Carteret Mariners at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

On Tuesday, Havelock never let their opponents score. They put the hurt on J.H. Rose with a sharp 15-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Havelock.

Elana Krupey was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and only one hit while striking out eight over 4.1 innings pitched. Krupey was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Andria Krupey and Chloe Schreckengost did most of the damage at the plate: Krupey scored three runs and stole four bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances, while Schreckengost got no hits from her two at bats. Havelock pushed their record up to 9-3 with that win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs per game. As for East Carteret, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.
