Softball Recap: Philo Takes a Loss

Philo had lost four straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 9-13 to make it five. They came up short against the West Muskingum Tornadoes, falling 12-2. The Electrics were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tornadoes apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

As for West Muskingum, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by eight runs or more this season.

For West Muskingum's part, Kadie Bare made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Bare was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Gabbi Hammer was a standout: she fired off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while going 2-for-2. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Addy Antonetz, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Philo will welcome Indian Creek at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for West Muskingum, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Tournament Opponent at 5:00 p.m. Tournament Opponent has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.49 runs per game on average), something West Muskingum will no doubt try to take advantage of.
