Battle Mountain hasn't had much luck against Rifle recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Battle Mountain Huskies will be staying on the road to face off against the Rifle Bears at 6:00 p.m. Battle Mountain will be strutting in after a victory while Rifle will be coming in after a loss.

Battle Mountain is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Alameda 17-9 on Saturday. The win was some much needed relief for the Huskies as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Rifle was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell just short of Eagle Valley by a score of 4-3.

Olivia Gordon was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she pitched six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off nine hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't pitched less than five innings in three consecutive pitching appearances.

On the hitting side, Rifle saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brynn Axelson, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
