Recap: Lawrence County Red Devils vs. Hatton Hornets
The Lawrence County Red Devils's game on Tuesday was all tied up 25-25 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They took a 43-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hatton. While losing is never fun, Lawrence County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 284th, while Hatton is ranked 140th).
Lawrence County's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kylie Graham, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds. Graham set a new season high mark in points with 11. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaala Hawkins, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds and five assists.
Hatton found their leader in underclassman Eva Armstead, who scored 21 points along with seven rebounds and six steals. Armstead set a new season high mark in points with 21. Another player making a difference was Kyli Smith, who scored eight points along with six rebounds.
Lawrence County has fallen quite a ways from their 16-8 record last season and are now at 2-5. As for Hatton, they pushed their record up to 4-2 with that victory, which was their third straight at home.
Lawrence County will take on Decatur at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Hatton, they will head out on the road to face off against Tharptown at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. Tharptown will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
