Baseball Recap: Arroyo Valley Triumphs

While Arroyo Valley's victory against Rim of the World wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Hawks had just enough and edged out the Fighting Scots 10-8. With that win, the Hawks brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.

Jake Jimenez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Arroyo Valley is 7-2 when he allows at most one walk, but 1-2 otherwise. Jimenez was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Carlos Perez was excellent, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. What's more, he posted two hits, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jorge Reyes, who scored two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Arroyo Valley is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Rim of the World, their loss was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-8.

Arroyo Valley will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Fighting Scots: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
