Softball Recap: Chimacum Takes a Loss

Chimacum had lost seven straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped down to 3-14 to make it eight. They came up short against the Klahowya Eagles, falling 17-2. Having soared to a lofty 26 runs in the game before, the Cowboys couldn't push the score so high this time.

As for Klahowya, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 8-11. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won six contests by six runs or more so far this season.

For Klahowya's part, Olivia Keil and Sydney Washington made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Keil tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Washington pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Keil has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, Keil got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and one double, while Washington went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs Keil has posted over her last 11 matchups.

In other batting news, Klahowya got a massive performance out of Shyanne Kilmer, who fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-2. That's the most RBI Kilmer has posted over her last 11 games. Isabel Langguth was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Coming up, Chimacum will challenge Cascade Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Klahowya, they will square off against Coupeville at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles will need to watch out since the Wolves have now posted at least ten runs in their last five contests.
