Baseball Recap: Vincent Memorial Has No Trouble Against Victory Christian Academy

With a playoff win on the line, Vincent Memorial rose to the challenge on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Victory Christian Academy Knights as they made off with a 9-3 win. That's more bragging rights for the Scots, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Juan Carlos Lara spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits and racked up ten Ks. He has become a key player for Vincent Memorial: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least eight strikeouts, but 1-11 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Armando Mendivil, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Ricardo Estrada, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

The victory made it two in a row for Vincent Memorial and bumps their season record up to 4-12. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Victory Christian Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-8 record this season.

As of now, neither Vincent Memorial nor Victory Christian Academy have any future games scheduled.
